A Romantic Fall Wedding at Holly Hedge Estate | Erin & Christopher
Some weddings just feel like home. Erin and Christophe’s November wedding at Holly Hedge Estate in New Hope, Pennsylvania was one of those days. Cozy, emotional, intentional, and filled with personality from start to finish.
As a wedding photographer, Holly Hedge Estate is one of those venues that never misses. The historic stone buildings, garden paths, and intimate atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for a day that feels both elevated and deeply personal. Erin and Chris leaned into that feeling beautifully with a color palette of gold accents, soft neutrals, oat tones, sage, and touches of peach woven throughout the day.
A First Look Full of Anticipation
The moment Erin was most excited for was the first look. She joked that she had never kept a secret for this long, and once the moment arrived, it all came pouring out. The nerves, the excitement, the emotion when Chris turned around, it was quiet and electric all at once.
These are the moments I love photographing most. Real reactions, real emotion, no rushing, no audience. Just the two of them fully present, soaking it all in together.
Details With History and Heart
Family history played a meaningful role in their wedding details. Erin wore her great grandmother’s wedding ring, and Chris wore his grandfather’s ring, pieces rich with legacy and sentiment. Much of the decor was thoughtfully DIY’d, including hand painted table numbers created by one of Erin’s bridesmaids. These details mattered not just because they were beautiful, but because they carried intention and story.
And then there were the flowers.
Erin loved her wedding florals so much that one of the images I captured of her bouquet became something permanent. She loved it so deeply that she had it turned into a tattoo. As a wedding photographer, seeing an image from a wedding day live on in that way is one of the biggest honors. The florals were designed by Kim from A Cottage Gardener, and watching her work inspire something so personal and lasting still gives me chills.
A Meaningful Handfasting Ceremony
Their ceremony included a handfasting ritual, a symbolic tradition representing the binding of their lives together. After countless hours spent on the phone with their officiant leading up to the wedding day, Erin and Chris were especially excited to hear his words. The ceremony was heartfelt, intentional, and deeply personal, one of those moments where everyone felt fully present and connected.
Cocktail Hour, Dancing, and Inflatable Guitars
After the ceremony, the day shifted into full celebration mode. From the energy of cocktail hour to the packed dance floor later that night, the vibe never slowed. Inflatable guitars, microphones, sunglasses everywhere, and yes, Chris was especially excited about the sunglasses. The dance floor was joyful, playful, and completely unfiltered in the best way.
From Preschool to “I Do”
Erin and Chris met in preschool, which might be one of my favorite love stories ever. Their relationship is comfortable, playful, and deeply rooted. Their idea of a perfect date is a day spent at Longwood Gardens, which perfectly reflects their love for beauty, nature, and slowing down together.
A Portrait Session Twist
During their portrait session, Erin and Chris pulled out film cameras and took turns photographing each other. It was such a sweet pause in the day, a chance to slow down, laugh, and experience the moment from the other side of the lens. There’s something nostalgic about film, the grain, the unpredictability, the honesty. These images feel intimate and unpolished in the best way, a small window into how they see one another.
When Your Wedding Flowers Become Permanent
Erin loved the photo of her wedding flowers so much that she turned it into a tattoo. Seeing an image from her wedding day become something she carries with her forever is one of the biggest honors as a photographer. The original photo captured the texture and softness of her florals, and watching it inspire something so personal feels incredibly full circle. A wedding detail becoming permanent art, it doesn’t get more meaningful than that.
